4 Ways To Play With Your Toddler

Let's Face It!

Toddlers are cute and funny but when it comes to playing with them you run out of ideas. After all their attention span can last literal seconds. Playing with your little one should not feel like a chore. I have come up with some of our favorite activities that keep us busy so you can join in on the fun!

CHASE

At this point your toddler knows how to make their way around pretty well... maybe too well. A great way for them to get even more practice running their little limbs is to play chase. Issac enjoys it most when we chase him but sometimes it's the other way around. No matter this activity is wonderful for both of you to get your exercise in and get their energy down. My son enjoys interacting with others more than playing by himself so this one keeps his attention.

PEEK-A-BOO

We all know this game but our family has put a personal spin on it. Instead of using our hands to cover our faces, we like to use objects. We especially enjoy Dad's hat. Issac will grip the end of the hat while it's on Alex or me and move it up and down to play. He will also put the hat on himself and remove it to play peek-a-boo with us. Now this game may take some of your best acting skills, it is totally worth seeing your toddler light up with joy while playing with you.

TICKLES

Who doesn't love their babies laugh, I swear I live for it. Tickling is a great way to interact with your child in a positive manner. Maybe you play tickle monster or just give them a random tickle here and there. As long as your toddler is comfortable and enjoying the tickle fest then give it your all. Usually, they aren't the only ones laughing by the end. Tickling can be one of the funniest ways to play with your toddler.

TRADE

Trading objects with your little one is an easy way to play even if you are not able to give them your full attention - I'm talking to you, work from home mama's. They will enjoy the fact that you want to interact with something that interests them. Trading is also a great way to start teaching toddlers how to share. This simple game will help keep your little one busy and happy even if you are quite busy.

Over All

At the end of the day, you have to find what games and activities suit your toddler's personality. There are many activities that both toddlers and parents can enjoy. Don't forget that it is okay to be distracted while playing once and a while just is sure to show them that you want to be there with them.
